Qashqai Transmission Control Unit Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Nissan Qashqai diesel is experiencing transmission issues, including non-functional paddle shifters, gearbox slippage, grinding noises, slow response, and emergency mode activation. The error memory indicates a defective transmission control unit as the cause. The suggested solution is to replace the faulty control unit, as similar cases have shown that replacement resolves the issues.

Yes, that's exactly what the error code indicated: a defective transmission control unit. It's good to know someone else has experienced this. How did you resolve it? Was it a simple fix, or did it require a full replacement?

Unfortunately, there's no simple fix for that. Affected control units are usually defective and need replacement. I ended up having to take it to a workshop. Cost me around 1000€ to get it sorted, but it fixed all the issues. I would suggest you do the same.

Thanks for confirming my fears, but I appreciate the advice! I was hoping it wouldn't be a costly repair, but at least I know what to expect. I'll book it into a workshop and get the control unit replaced. Thanks again for sharing your experience!

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my Qashqai. Does it feel like the gearbox is just generally not behaving itself? For me it turned out to be the car computer, the transmission control module specifically. Was that also what your error code said?
