Qashqai Whistling Noise and Poor Engine Response
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Nissan Qashqai with a diesel engine is experiencing poor engine response, stalling, high fuel consumption, and a whistling noise that turns into a loud hissing sound during acceleration. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the boost pressure system, specifically the wastegate valve in the turbocharger assembly. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected by a professional workshop to diagnose and repair the faulty wastegate valve, which resolved the issues and restored the vehicle's performance.

Thanks! Where exactly is the wastegate valve located, and what should I be looking for? Is there any way to test it without taking everything apart?

The wastegate valve is part of the turbocharger assembly. Unfortunately, without proper diagnostic tools and expertise, it's difficult to accurately test it. Given the symptoms, it is best to get it checked at a reputable workshop. They will examine the turbocharger system.

You were spot on! Took it to the shop, and it was indeed a faulty wastegate valve. Cost me 860€ to get it fixed, but now she's running like new. Thanks a million for pointing me in the right direction!

I had similar symptoms with my Qashqai. Check your wastegate valve. A defect there can cause all those problems: reduced power, whistling, and poor engine response.
