Quest Overheating Active Air Flap Fault

Alright, I'm kinda stumped. My 2007 Nissan Quest with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. The check engine light is on and the engine is overheating. My code reader says it's an active air flap fault. Could this be the grille shutter acting up? Mileage is at 227123 km. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds familiar! Had a similar thing happen on my old Volvo, weirdly enough. Same symptoms – check engine light and overheating. Did you run a full diagnostic scan or just a quick code read? It ended up being the electromechanism for the air flaps. Is yours making any weird noises?

Just a quick code read, yeah. No weird noises that I can hear. Electromechanism, huh? Is that part of the whole active air flap assembly, or is it a separate piece? Because finding parts for this thing is proving to be a pain.

Yep, it's part of the assembly, as I recall. I'd say get it properly diagnosed to be sure. Could be a wiring issue, but if it's the electromechanism itself, you're probably looking at a replacement. Best to bite the bullet and take it to a workshop, I'd say.

Thanks for the insight! Dropped it off at the shop, and you nailed it. The electromechanism was defective. Cost me 590€ to get it fixed, but at least the overheating is gone. Appreciate the help!
