Just a quick code read, yeah. No weird noises that I can hear. Electromechanism, huh? Is that part of the whole active air flap assembly, or is it a separate piece? Because finding parts for this thing is proving to be a pain.

Yep, it's part of the assembly, as I recall. I'd say get it properly diagnosed to be sure. Could be a wiring issue, but if it's the electromechanism itself, you're probably looking at a replacement. Best to bite the bullet and take it to a workshop, I'd say.

Thanks for the insight! Dropped it off at the shop, and you nailed it. The electromechanism was defective. Cost me 590€ to get it fixed, but at least the overheating is gone. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar! Had a similar thing happen on my old Volvo, weirdly enough. Same symptoms – check engine light and overheating. Did you run a full diagnostic scan or just a quick code read? It ended up being the electromechanism for the air flaps. Is yours making any weird noises?
