Quest rain sensor malfunction

I've got a 2010 Nissan Quest with a gasoline engine and only 64455 km on the clock. Recently, I've been getting a weird error related to the rain-light sensor. The error memory has stored something, and the automatic wiping mode doesn't work in the rain. Also, the automatic headlight control is gone, and the speedometer dimming isn't functioning either. The lights randomly switch on sometimes. I've read online that it might be bubbles forming under the gel pad of the windshield, but I'm not sure. Anyone else had this?

Hey, I have a Nissan Quest too, though I'm not sure what year it is. I had similar issues with my rain sensor a while back. By 'automatic wiping mode' do you mean the wipers don't adjust speed automatically based on rainfall? Do your headlights also turn on and off at random?

Yeah, exactly. The wipers stay at the same speed no matter how hard it's raining. And the headlights do switch on randomly, even in broad daylight sometimes. Did you ever figure out what was causing it? Was it also the gel pad thing?

Sounds like the same thing I had. I didn't try fixing it myself. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can diagnose the sensor and replace it if necessary. It cost me around 62€ for the replacement and the diagnostic.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll book an appointment with a workshop to get it checked out. Hopefully, it's just the sensor and nothing more complicated.
