Quest Steering Vibration

Hey, I'm having some trouble with my 2016 Nissan Quest with a gasoline engine. Lately, the steering wheel has been vibrating like crazy, and the handling feels spongy, like trying to steer a boat through pudding. I scanned it, and there's an error code related to the power steering. Sometimes, it feels like the power steering just quits altogether, making it super hard to turn. I've checked the obvious stuff, like making sure the power steering fluid reservoir is full, but no luck. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I had something similar happen in my Quest. Did you check the cable and plug connections to the electric steering? That was my issue.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly are those connections located? Is it something I can check myself without needing special tools, or am I better off just taking it to a mechanic?

They're connected to the steering gear. If you have some knowledge about cars, you can check it yourself. It's probably just a loose cable or a defective plug connection. I would go to the workshop, though.

Thanks! I took your advice and had the cable and plug connections checked at a workshop. Turns out, that was exactly the problem! A faulty connection was causing all the issues. They fixed it for 95€, and now the steering is back to normal. Appreciate the help!
