R Klasse gasoline engine sluggish performance

My 2013 Mercedes R Klasse with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. The check engine light popped on, and I've noticed a distinct loss of power, especially when accelerating. The engine response feels sluggish, and my fuel consumption has definitely increased. I've got about 128413 km on the clock. After doing some research, I suspect it might be a faulty manifold pressure sensor. The symptoms seem to point towards a large vacuum leakage. Anyone else experienced something similar with the manifold sensor or intake manifold on these car sensors? I'm trying to gauge if this is a common manifold pressure sensor failure before I start tearing things apart.

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Mercedes R Klasse with a gasoline engine exhibited sluggish performance, a check engine light, and increased fuel consumption. The suspected cause was a faulty manifold pressure sensor, potentially due to a large vacuum leakage. An OBD2 scanner confirmed erratic sensor readings, leading to the replacement of the manifold pressure sensor, which resolved the performance issues.

Sounds like the manifold pressure sensor could be the culprit. Have you checked for any obvious cracks or leaks in the vacuum lines connected to the intake manifold? Also, do you have access to an OBD2 scanner? That would confirm if the sensor is reporting incorrect readings.

I haven't spotted any obvious cracks in the lines, but I'll take a closer look. I do have an OBD2 scanner. If it's the manifold sensor, what kind of readings should I be looking for to confirm the sensor failure?

If the scanner is showing consistently high or low readings that don't match the engine load, it's a strong indicator of a faulty sensor. Given the symptoms, it sounds like a trip to the workshop might be necessary to properly diagnose and replace the sensor.

Thanks for the input. I ran the OBD2 scanner, and the readings were all over the place, confirming the sensor failure. Took it to the workshop, and they replaced the manifold pressure sensor. Total cost was around 235€. Engine's running much smoother now.
