R Klasse radar sensor problem

My 2012 Mercedes R Klasse with a gasoline engine is exhibiting a radar sensor malfunction at 76056 km. The speedometer displays an error message, and the error memory confirms a fault. This sensor malfunction seems to be causing failures in various vehicle systems, accompanied by a warning light. Adaptive cruise control is non-functional. Has anyone encountered a similar electronic issue?

I had a similar sensor malfunction issue with my R Klasse and the adaptive cruise. Check if the radar sensor is simply dirty. Road grime and winter salt can build up and interfere with the sensor's functionality. It's located behind the front bumper, and you might be able to carefully clean it yourself. Is the sensor visibly obstructed? Does the error occur intermittently, or is it constant?

Thanks for the suggestion. The error is constant. I'll check for obstructions and try cleaning the radar sensor. Is there anything specific I should use to clean it, or anything I should avoid?

When my radar sensor went haywire, cleaning didn't solve the problem, but it's worth a try before escalating. Since the error is constant, I'm leaning towards a faulty sensor or a wiring problem. It might be best to have it properly diagnosed at a workshop to pinpoint the exact electronic issue. They can check the sensor's signal and wiring harness for any damage or corrosion.

I appreciate the advice. Cleaning the sensor didn't resolve the issue. I took your suggestion and brought it to a workshop. They diagnosed a dirty radar sensor. After cleaning the sensor and clearing the error memory, the system is now functioning correctly. Total cost 45€. Thanks again.
