Ractis Battery Discharge
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a heavily discharged battery in a 2014 Toyota Ractis, leading to issues like a speedometer error, weak lights, and difficulty starting. Diagnostics pointed to a defective battery sensor as the cause. Suggestions included verifying the diagnosis with a thorough check, as inaccurate sensor data could affect charging. Ultimately, replacing the faulty sensor resolved the issue, restoring proper battery charging.

Thanks for the insight. I didn't measure it myself. The battery sensor diagnosis came from a local service center. Have you seen the battery sensor cause this kind of failure or low voltage while driving? They estimated a repair cost of around 315€ to replace it.

I can't confirm the sensor is the only cause, but if it's reporting inaccurate data, it could affect charging. Get a thorough diagnostic check before replacing parts. Low voltage while driving and a dead battery at startup make a defective sensor plausible. In my case, it was a defective alternator. Confirm their diagnosis first.

I appreciate the advice. The error memory also pointed to the battery sensor. The workshop confirmed the diagnosis after inspecting it. Replacing the faulty sensor resolved the issue, and now the battery is charging correctly. Thanks again for your help.

I had a similar issue with my old 2012 Opel Astra. Same error, dimming lights, and eventually wouldn't start. Did you measure the current to the battery? Use a multimeter. It should get around 14 volts when running. If it's lower, it could be a charging problem.
