Ractis clutch pedal switch issue

I'm having a weird issue with my 2013 Toyota Ractis with a gasoline engine. It's got about 33600 km on it. Basically, I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, and a few other things are acting up: the gear selection display in the speedometer isn't working, the cruise control is dead, and sometimes the engine just refuses to start. I've hooked it up to a code reader, but the error code is pretty generic. I've checked some of the basic stuff, like fuses, but can't see anything obvious. I'm suspecting it might be something to do with the clutch pedal switch, as some people have suggested that the cable or plug connection might be defective? Has anyone else had anything similar happen?

I had a similar problem with my Ractis. Those symptoms, especially the cruise control and starting issue, do point to a potential problem with the clutch pedal switch or its wiring. I believe it's part of a safety mechanism that prevents the car from starting or engaging cruise control unless the clutch is fully depressed. Have you checked the connection to the switch itself? Is it loose or corroded?

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, I gave the connection a quick look, but it was hard to get a good view without taking half the dashboard apart. You mention checking the connection - is there anything specific I should be looking for, or any particular way to test it? Any chance you remember which wire it was or the wire colors?

I do not recall the wire colours. While the symptoms do sound very similar to my experience, I would recommend taking your Ractis to a qualified workshop. They will be able to properly diagnose the electrical system with the correct tools.

Thanks for your help! I took it to the shop as you suggested. Turns out, the cable to the clutch pedal switch was indeed defective. Total repair cost was 95€, so not too bad. Everything's working perfectly again now.
