Ractis engine running rich
Summary of the thread
The 2012 Toyota Ractis is experiencing issues with the engine running too rich, leading to reduced power, check engine light, rough running, higher fuel consumption, and jerking during acceleration. Possible causes include a defective injection valve or injector, a faulty oxygen sensor, or issues with the air filter, intake manifold, or spark plugs. After further investigation, a workshop confirmed that the problem was due to a defective injector.

Thank you for your input. I haven't checked those yet. Where exactly is the oxygen sensor located? And could a faulty oxygen sensor really cause all those symptoms?

O2 sensor is usually on the exhaust manifold, before or after the catalytic converter. And yeah, a bad one can mess with the fuel/air mix, causing all sorts of problems. Given all the symptoms, and if it's not the easy stuff, you might want to get it checked by a workshop.

I appreciate the advice. The workshop confirmed a defective injector; repair cost is 515€. Thank you.

Sounds like a rich running issue alright. Have you checked the easy stuff first? Like the air filter, intake manifold, or spark plugs? Could even be an oxygen sensor giving bad readings or a clogged catalytic converter. Any codes being thrown?
