Ractis fuel flap issue

My 2008 Toyota Ractis with a gasoline engine is playing up. The fuel flap release has completely stopped working. I get an error message stored, and neither locking nor unlocking the flap works anymore. It's even affecting other systems in the car! I suspect it might be a defective linkage somewhere. Anyone else seen this before?

I had something similar happen on my Ractis. Started with the fuel door not popping open, then a bunch of weird electrical glitches. Have you checked the cable release, if it has one? It might be stretched or snapped. Also, is it the electric actuator type? Those things can fail too. Mine ended up being a pain to diagnose.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, I was leaning towards the electric actuator as well. Where exactly did you have issues with yours? Was it a simple fix, or did it require some serious dismantling?

No worries! Honestly, I tried fiddling with it myself for way too long and got nowhere. In the end, I just took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the actuator and replaced it. Saved me a lot of hassle, even though it cost a bit. Probably best to get it checked out professionally to avoid making things worse.

Appreciate the advice! Sounds like a workshop visit is the way to go. Just got the actuator replaced, cost me 210€, but at least it's sorted now. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
