Ractis immobilizer key programming
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Toyota Ractis faced an immobilizer issue where the engine wouldn't start or would start briefly and then shut down. The problem was identified as a key programming error, confirmed by a rapidly flashing security light during ignition. The suggested solution was to consult a qualified workshop for key reprogramming, which resolved the issue effectively.

The security light flashes rapidly when I try to start the car. Does that confirm the key signal problem?

That flashing security light strongly suggests the key isn't being properly recognized by the immobilizer. The likely cause is indeed incorrect key programming, as you suspected. Given the complexity of modern anti-theft systems and ignition control, I would recommend consulting a qualified workshop equipped to handle Toyota key programming. They possess the diagnostic tools and expertise necessary to resolve this issue effectively.

Thanks for the advice. I had the key reprogrammed at a local shop. Cost me 45€ and now the car starts without any issues.

Greetings. The symptoms you describe are indeed indicative of an immobilizer malfunction, particularly with the described error memory contents. Does the security light behave as expected during ignition?
