Ractis Outside Temperature Sensor Fault

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2010 Toyota Ractis, gasoline engine. The outside temperature sensor appears faulty. The error memory stores a fault, the air conditioning refuses to engage, the windscreen washer nozzles freeze prematurely, and the mirror heating is non-functional. Given the symptoms, I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. The car has 185527 km on it. Has anyone encountered something similar?

Oh man, that sounds familiar! I had almost the same thing happen with my old Opel Astra. Different brand, I know, but the symptoms were eerily similar. My AC wouldn't kick on, and I was getting weird temperature readings. The worst part was the constant error light. Did you try checking the sensor itself? I remember fiddling with mine, and it seemed loose.

Thank you for your input. When you say 'fiddling', could you elaborate? Did you simply check the connection, or did you attempt any sensor calibration or replacement yourself? I'm hesitant to start replacing parts without a clearer understanding, especially considering the interconnectedness of these systems.

Yeah, sorry, I should have been clearer. I just checked the connection visually and gave it a wiggle to see if it made any difference. It didn't, haha. Eventually, I just took it to a workshop. They told me the sensor was shot and replaced it. Honestly, it wasn't worth the hassle trying to fix it myself. Probably best to get it checked out properly.

Understood. I appreciate the insight. I've booked an appointment with my local workshop. They've quoted approximately 95€ for diagnosis and repair, which seems reasonable. Hopefully, it's a simple replacement as you experienced. Thank you for sharing your experience.
