Ractis Overheating Slow Warmup

My 2009 Toyota Ractis with a gasoline engine is acting up. The engine's overheating and takes forever to warm up. Any ideas? I'm thinking it might be the thermostat.

Summary of the thread

A 2009 Toyota Ractis is experiencing engine overheating and slow warm-up issues. The suspected cause is a faulty thermostat, which is a common problem that can affect the coolant system and temperature control. A defective map thermostat and possibly the thermostat housing are identified as potential culprits, with a recommendation to have the vehicle checked by a professional for a new thermostat and coolant flush.

Sounds familiar! I had similar trouble with my Ractis. Is it possibly the thermostat housing? Those things can cause havoc with the coolant system and temperature control. Any weird noises?

Housing, eh? Hmm, hadn't considered that. What exactly went wrong with yours? And was it overheating too, or just taking ages to warm up?

Yeah, overheating and slow warm-up. Turned out to be a defective map thermostat, common issue apparently. Best get it checked; I needed a new thermostat and coolant flush. Workshop job.

Cheers! Really appreciate the help. I'll get it booked in at the shop. Suspected the thermostat, but good to know the housing might be the culprit. Hopefully, it's not too pricey!
