Ractis Seat Heater Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Toyota Ractis owner reported a non-functional seat heater, with an OBD-II error indicating an issue in the seat heating circuit. The suspected cause was a faulty heating element within the seat cushion. A continuity test was suggested to confirm the diagnosis. The problem was resolved by replacing the defective heating mat at a workshop, restoring the seat heater's functionality.

Thanks for the insight! A continuity test is a good idea. I haven't done that yet. Where exactly is the heating mat located within the seat? I assume it's underneath the seat cushion cover itself?

Precisely. The heating mat is integrated within the seat cushion, typically affixed directly beneath the seat cover. Exercise caution when removing the cover to avoid damaging any retaining clips or the heating mat itself. Given the error code and lack of heat, a defective heating mat is the most probable culprit. I would advise visiting a qualified workshop for replacement. It's a delicate procedure, and proper installation is crucial to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Thanks again for your help. I appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop. As suspected, it was indeed the seat heating mat, and they quoted me 390€ for the repair, which I accepted. All is working now!

While I haven't experienced this exact problem with a Toyota, I encountered a similar issue in my old Volvo V70. The symptoms were identical: no heat, error code present. In my case, it turned out to be a break in the heating element within the seat cushion. Have you performed a continuity test on the heating mat itself? That would be my initial diagnostic step.
