Ractis temperature gauge and slow warm up

My 2008 Toyota Ractis with a gasoline engine is acting weird. The temperature gauge seems off, the check engine light is on, and it takes ages to warm up. The cooling grille seems blocked. Could this cause overheating? What's going on?

I had something similar happen with my Ractis. Check if your car has a fuse for the cooling grille; sometimes a defective fuse can cause those symptoms. Does the car overheat when idling or only when driving?

A fuse for the grille? I didn't even know that was a thing! I'll check that out. It takes a long time to reach operating temperature but it does not overheat when idling or driving. Where would I find this fuse?

Yeah, some models have it. If it's not the fuse, it might be a bigger issue. Given the symptoms, you should get it checked by a workshop. They can properly diagnose the cooling system and sort out any blockages or thermostat problems.

Turns out it was the fuse! The workshop replaced the cooling grille fuse for 52€, and everything's back to normal. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
