Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm actually dealing with the exact same issue on my Range Rover right now. My mechanic confirmed it was the alternator too, and I'm scheduled to get it replaced next week. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, have you had any other electrical gremlins pop up since getting it fixed? Cheers!

Hey again! Happy to update you! Yeah, I remember our alternator chat, just wanted to let you know that since getting mine fixed, it's been running like a dream! The final bill came to 960€, which included parts and labor. Not exactly cheap, but totally worth it considering how crucial the alternator is. Honestly, it was such a relief after the repair. No more unusual stalling or electrical issues at all, everything's working exactly as it should. The lights are bright, engine starts right up every time, and all the electrical systems are back to normal. Zero gremlins since the fix! It's been over a year now, and I haven't had a single electrical problem pop up. The generator (alternator) replacement really sorted everything out. Looking back, it was definitely the right call to get it done at a specialized shop. Hope your repair goes just as smoothly! Let me know how it turns out! Take care!

Thanks so much for the detailed follow-up! Just got back from the mechanic today actually, and you won't believe it, the repair went super smooth! The bill was slightly higher than yours at about 1,100, but they also found and fixed a few minor wiring issues while they were at it. The difference is like night and day, no more heart-stopping moments when the engine cuts out, and those dim lights are history! The mechanic was really thorough and even showed me the old alternator. It was pretty worn out, and apparently, some of the brushes were completely shot. He said I was lucky to catch it when I did because it could've died completely at any moment. Really appreciate all your help with this. It's such a relief to have the car running properly again. Think I've found my new go-to mechanic too, they were super professional and didn't try to upsell me on unnecessary stuff. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me make the right decision! Cheers!

Hey there! Had a similar situation with my 2016 Range Rover Sport TDV6 last year. The symptoms you're describing match exactly what I experienced, unusual stalling, dim lights, and weak electrical systems. Initially thought it was just a battery issue, but turned out the alternator was indeed failing. My alternator's voltage regulator was shot, causing inconsistent power output. This affected pretty much everything running on electrical power, including the ABS and stability control systems. The repair involved replacing the entire alternator unit, as these parts aren't separately serviceable on Range Rovers. It's a serious repair that shouldn't be postponed, driving with a failing alternator can leave you stranded and potentially damage other electrical components. Had mine fixed at a specialized shop, and it's been running perfectly since then. My advice? Get it checked soon. These symptoms typically don't improve on their own, and it's best to address it before you end up stranded somewhere. Best of luck!
