Range Rover Hybrid Airbag Warning Light Mystery Solved
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Range Rover Hybrid owner experienced an unexpected airbag warning light and sought advice on potential causes and solutions. A similar case was shared, where a recall covered the repair due to faulty airbag components. The recommendation was to check for recalls and consult a dealer, as airbag systems are critical safety features. Thanks for sharing your experience! Mine's got 112133 KM on the clock and I just had it serviced last month, but they didn't mention anything about airbag issues then. No incidents or work done near the airbags recently. The warning light just popped up out of nowhere while driving. Haven't gotten any specific error codes yet since I don't have a diagnostic tool. You're probably right about the dealer, better safe than sorry with airbag systems. I'll give them a call tomorrow to check if there are any open recalls for my model year. Really helpful to know about your recall experience. Fingers crossed mine might be covered too! Thanks for the advice.

Hey again! Thanks for those details about your Range Rover. isn't it just typical how these warning lights pop up right after a service? You know what, my situation was really similar, mine came on at around 98000 KM, also completely out of the blue. Actually, before I took it to the dealer, I thought maybe the clock spring could be the culprit since that's a common issue in these models. But turns out I was wrong! Since you mentioned yours is a 2016 model, definitely check for recalls. I remember when I called my dealer, they looked up my VIN right away and confirmed the recall status. The whole process was pretty smooth once I got it in there, took them about half a day to sort everything out. One thing though, even if there isn't a recall for yours, don't put off getting it checked. My mechanic (who works mainly on European luxury cars) always says the airbag system is one of those things you never want to take chances with. Keep us posted on what the dealer says! Really curious to know if it's the same issue mine had. These Range Rovers can be quirky sometimes, but they're worth the occasional headache, aren't they?

Thanks so much for all that info! Yeah, these luxury cars definitely have their moments, gotta love them anyway! Really appreciate you sharing about the clock spring possibility and the recall experience. I just called the dealer and got an appointment for tomorrow morning. You're right, they immediately checked my VIN when I called. Surprisingly, there is actually an open recall for the airbag system on my model! Talk about good timing with your advice. The service advisor mentioned something similar to what you experienced, apparently, it could be related to those faulty components you mentioned. I'm feeling much more optimistic now knowing yours was covered under warranty. I'll definitely keep monitoring the KMs too, since mine's not far off from when yours had issues. And you're absolutely right about not taking chances with safety systems, that's solid advice from your mechanic. Thanks again for all the help! I'll probably update the forum once I get it sorted. Really glad I asked here, saved me a lot of worry and pointed me in the right direction!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2018 Range Rover Sport Hybrid. I have some experience working on cars, but airbag systems are definitely not my forte! The airbag warning light came on in mine too. Took it to the dealership and turns out it was covered under a recall campaign, didn't pay a cent for the fix. They replaced some faulty airbag components that were part of a manufacturing defect. To help you better, could you share if you've had any recent work done on the car or if there were any incidents that might have triggered this? Also, did you get any specific error codes when the light came on? Since these are safety systems, I'd really recommend having it checked by an authorized dealer rather than trying any DIY fixes.
