Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm at 95369 KM and just had my service last month. Actually, now that you mention it, there is a slight knocking sound when accelerating. The strange thing is that it all started right after the service, which makes me wonder if they might have used the wrong oil too. This is really helpful info, I'll definitely get it checked right away. Better to fix it now than risk bigger engine problems later. Did you notice any improvement in engine noise after your oil flush?

Hey again! Thanks for the follow-up. Yes, the timing of your issues starting right after the service really rings a bell, that's exactly what happened with my Range Rover too! After my oil flush, the knocking sound completely disappeared within a day or two. It was like having a different car! The engine ran much smoother, especially during acceleration. Those metal shavings really had me worried at first, but the flush solved everything. Just one word of caution though, since your symptoms started right after service, I'd recommend taking it to a different workshop than the one that did your last service. In my case, I went to a Range Rover specialist who immediately spotted the wrong oil issue. They also checked my bearings just to be safe (thankfully, no damage there). Keep me posted on what you find out! If it's the same issue I had, it should be a relatively straightforward fix. And don't worry too much, just get it checked soon. These engines are pretty robust, but they definitely need the right oil to stay happy!

Thanks so much for all the detailed advice! You've really put my mind at ease. I've already called a specialist workshop and booked it in for tomorrow morning. You're absolutely right about going to a different place, I don't want to risk the same mistake twice. It's such a relief to hear your engine noise disappeared after the fix. Really hoping for the same outcome! The fact that our situations are so similar makes me feel more confident about what needs to be done. I'll make sure they check the bearings too, just to be on the safe side. I'll definitely keep you updated on what they find. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience, it's been super helpful!

Hi there! I've got some experience with cars and had a similar issue with my 2014 Range Rover Sport diesel. The symptoms you're describing sound very familiar, I also had metal shavings and warning lights. Turned out someone had put the wrong type of engine oil in my car during a previous service. Had to get it fixed at a workshop, they did a complete oil flush, replaced the oil filter, and filled it with the correct engine oil specification. Cost me around 175 Euro, but it was worth it to prevent more serious engine damage. Have you checked what type of oil was used in your last service? Also, does your engine make any unusual noises? To help you better, could you share: Current mileage? When was your last oil change? Any strange engine sounds? I'd definitely recommend getting this checked ASAP, metal shavings in oil isn't something to ignore!
