Ranger ABS and steering issues
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Ford Ranger owner reported issues with the low tire pressure warning, ABS light, and steering problems. The likely cause was identified as a faulty valve stem in one of the tires, which can lead to air leaks and trigger the tire pressure monitoring system. The suggested solution was to have a workshop inspect and diagnose the valve stems, which confirmed the issue and resolved the problem.

That's interesting. I focused on the tire pressure and not the valve stem. Was the 'faulty valve stem' visibly damaged, or was the issue more subtle? Did this happen suddenly, or was it gradual?

It wasn't visibly obvious. The valve stem was seeping air slowly. It was enough to trigger the sensor, though. It happened fairly suddenly. One day everything was fine, the next day the warning light was on and the ABS was acting up. I would recommend having a trusted workshop take a look, it is likely the valve stem. They have tools to properly diagnose it.

You were right. After taking it to the workshop, a defective valve in the tire was indeed the culprit. The repair cost me 280€. Thanks!

I had a similar experience with my Ranger. The tire pressure warning light, ABS kicking on, and steering issues sound familiar. It was a faulty valve stem in one of the tires. These newer tire pressure monitoring systems are sensitive; a small leak or a malfunctioning sensor can throw the system into disarray. Did you inspect the valve stems when you inflated the tires?
