Ranger AC failure
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Ford Ranger with a diesel engine is experiencing air conditioning failure, where the system doesn't cool or switch on. Initial checks of fuses and the AC compressor clutch showed no issues, leading to suspicions of a refrigerant leak or valve defect. A similar case involved faulty valves within the AC system, requiring professional repair. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle inspected at a workshop for a precise diagnosis and repair.

Thanks for the quick reply! No unusual noises that I recall. How would I check if the compressor is engaging, and what was the cause of your AC failure in the end?

You can usually see if the compressor is engaging by looking at the front of it. The center part should be spinning when the AC is on. If it's not, then it's not engaging. My issue turned out to be faulty valves within the AC system itself. I had to take it to a workshop, unfortunately. Cost a pretty penny, I recall.

Appreciate the insight. Sounds like I'm heading to the workshop as well. I'll post the diagnosis and repair cost once I have it. Based on your experience, I am expecting something around 1000€, so thanks for the heads up!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar AC problem with my Ranger a while back. The AC just quit. Did you check for any unusual noises coming from the compressor before it stopped working? Is the compressor engaging at all?
