Ranger AdBlue Issue

Good point about the fuel efficiency! I haven't really noticed a big change, to be honest. And the dashboard did give a low DEF warning a while ago, but I filled it up then, so I thought it was all good. Is there any easy way to check the sensor or the injection system without special tools, or am I just better off taking it somewhere?

Okay, the fact that you got the low DEF warning before filling it up suggests the sensor might be working, but not necessarily correctly. Honestly, without proper diagnostic tools, it's tricky to pinpoint the exact issue. Given the engine won't start, and it's linked to emissions control, I'd strongly recommend getting it to a workshop. These systems can be sensitive, and you don't want to mess something up further and end up with a bigger bill. It does sound like the AdBlue issue like you say and getting it hooked up to diagnostics is your best bet.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I think you're right; I'm going to book it in at the workshop. It was a defective AdBlue pump (as expected) causing the tank to not empty correctly, the repair cost me 250€. Hopefully, that sorts it out. Appreciate the help!

Sounds like a real pain! The engine won't start if the DEF fluid system throws a fit – it's a built-in failsafe to keep emissions in check. Has the dashboard been giving you any alerts about the DEF fluid level being low before it completely died? It could be a faulty sensor, or, yeah, as you suspect, something funky with the injection system. Also, any noticeable change in fuel efficiency recently?
