Ranger diesel engine issues
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Ford Ranger diesel with 198,940 km is experiencing jerking during acceleration, a check engine light, reduced engine power, occasional stalling, rough running, and a strong exhaust smell. These symptoms suggest a potential vacuum leak affecting manifold pressure. After investigation, it was confirmed that the issue was a leaking intake manifold due to scorching, which was subsequently repaired.

Thank you for the input. I appreciate the suggestion. Was the issue effectively a manifold leak with your BMW? And if so, what specifically failed?

Yes, on my BMW, it was indeed a leaking intake manifold due to scorching, causing all sorts of engine misfires. Considering your Ranger's symptoms, I would recommend having a workshop inspect the intake manifold for potential damage, especially given the mileage.

I appreciate the advice. I followed your suggestion and had it diagnosed. It turned out to be the intake manifold, leaking due to scorching, just as you suspected. The repair cost came to 1180€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

The symptoms you describe are concerning. I had similar issues with my previous BMW 3 series. Same error codes, stalling engine, the whole nine yards. Have you checked the intake manifold for leaks? It might be worth investigating the manifold sensor as well.
