Ranger diesel engine issues

My 2019 Ford Ranger diesel with 198940 km is jerking when accelerating, and the check engine light is on. The error memory contains a stored error. There is reduced engine power, occasional engine stalls at idle, rough engine running, and a strong exhaust smell. Could this be a vacuum leak affecting manifold pressure?

The symptoms you describe are concerning. I had similar issues with my previous BMW 3 series. Same error codes, stalling engine, the whole nine yards. Have you checked the intake manifold for leaks? It might be worth investigating the manifold sensor as well.

Thank you for the input. I appreciate the suggestion. Was the issue effectively a manifold leak with your BMW? And if so, what specifically failed?

Yes, on my BMW, it was indeed a leaking intake manifold due to scorching, causing all sorts of engine misfires. Considering your Ranger's symptoms, I would recommend having a workshop inspect the intake manifold for potential damage, especially given the mileage.

I appreciate the advice. I followed your suggestion and had it diagnosed. It turned out to be the intake manifold, leaking due to scorching, just as you suspected. The repair cost came to 1180€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
