Ranger Diesel Power Loss and Smoke

I've got a 2021 Ford Ranger diesel with 211566 km. Recently, I've noticed a big power loss and smoke when accelerating. Sounds like a bad diesel particulate filter (DPF). Has anyone had this issue? Any ideas on what to check before I get it inspected? I'm also worried about fuel and backpressure.

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Ford Ranger diesel with 211,566 km is experiencing significant power loss and smoke during acceleration, likely due to a clogged diesel particulate filter (DPF). The engine light is on, indicating a potential issue with the DPF. A similar case required a DPF replacement after a failed cleaning attempt. It is advised to have the vehicle inspected and possibly replace the DPF to prevent further complications.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I had the same problem on my Ranger! Reduced power and smoke... sounds like a clogged DPF for sure. Did the engine light come on?

Yes, the engine light is on. Did you try cleaning the DPF or did you have to replace it?

I tried the cleaning cycle, but it didn't fix it. Ended up going to a workshop and they said the DPF was shot. You should probably do the same, before it gets worse. I paid around 1550€ for a new one.

Thanks. I appreciate the advice. I'll take it to a workshop for inspection and DPF replacement, based on what you've said. I'll let you know how it goes!
