Ranger exhaust temperature sensor issue

Alright, so my 2020 Ford Ranger, diesel engine, is giving me grief. Check engine light's on, power feels sluggish, and I swear it's guzzling more fuel than usual. It's done 133072 km. Could it be the exhaust? Anyone else had this?

The symptoms you describe could indicate a faulty exhaust temperature sensor. Have you noticed any unusual temperature fluctuations, particularly after periods of high engine load? Furthermore, have you checked the exhaust system for any visible signs of damage or leaks, as this is a common precursor to sensor failure?

Temperature fluctuations, not really, but I haven't been paying super close attention. Where exactly should I be looking for leaks in the exhaust? I'm not super mechanically inclined, but I can poke around a bit.

Given your description, a leak in the exhaust system compromising the integrity of the exhaust flow and consequently impacting the sensor's readings is highly probable. While a comprehensive diagnosis requires specialized equipment, I would advise against extensive self-diagnosis given your mechanical inexperience. A visit to a qualified workshop would be prudent to ascertain the precise nature and extent of the issue.

Thanks. Dropped it at the workshop, turns out it was the exhaust temperature sensor, likely caused by a small leak like you said. Cost me 265€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the help!
