Thanks for the quick reply! The power loss seems to be most noticeable when the engine is under load, like going uphill or trying to overtake. It does seem more consistent when the engine is warm. Any ideas?

Thank you for the clarification. Given the symptoms and the conditions under which they occur, my assessment is reinforced that you are indeed encountering an issue with the intake manifold. While troubleshooting steps can be taken, the complexity of modern engine management systems suggests a visit to a qualified workshop. Continuing to operate the vehicle in its current state could potentially lead to further component degradation. Therefore, I strongly suggest that you take your Ford Ranger to a local mechanic or dealership as soon as possible.

Appreciate the advice! Took her into the shop this morning, and you called it – faulty intake manifold flap control. New switch intake manifold control, and I am 465€ lighter in the wallet, but she's running like a dream again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your Ford Ranger. Based on the symptoms you have described – reduced engine power, rough idling, jerking during acceleration, a hissing sound, and increased fuel consumption – it is plausible that the intake manifold flap control is indeed the source of the problem. Could you describe the circumstances when you experience the loss of power? Is it consistent or does it happen randomly?
