Ranger power windows failure

I checked the fuses, they seem fine. I can read the error code, but it just says 'window control malfunction'. Does that point more definitively to the switch?

The generic error code doesn't pinpoint the switch with certainty. While a defective switch remains a strong possibility, given the lack of more specific information, I would advise a thorough diagnostic procedure at a qualified workshop. Further electrical testing is necessary to isolate the root cause. You should consider that with 180599 km on the clock the window regulator could be defective as well.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it turned out to be the power window switch after all. Repair cost was about 200€ including labor.

A faulty power window switch is a plausible cause given the symptoms you describe. However, it could also be a wiring issue, a defective window motor, or even a problem with the body control module. Have you checked the fuses related to the power windows? Are you able to read out the error code?
