Ranger rough running stalling

My 2001 Ford Ranger with a gasoline engine is having issues. At 224716 km, it's running rough, stalling at idle, the check engine light is on, and it jerks when accelerating. I'm thinking it could be a bad ignition coil, maybe a cable or plug issue. Anyone else seen this?

Rough idle, check engine light... sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Ranger. Misfires, right? Was it hard to pinpoint?

Yeah, misfires are happening. What was your experience? Did you fix it yourself, or did you need a mechanic?

I messed around with it, checking connections, but I got fed up pretty quick. I just took it to a shop. Best 95€ I ever spent, LOL!
