Ranger Washer Fluid Low Warning

I've got a 2012 Ford Ranger, diesel, with 61576 km on the clock. Recently, I've been getting a 'Washer Fluid Low' warning, even though the reservoir is full. The windshield washer system doesn't work at all now. Any ideas what could be causing this? It's got an error stored in the error memory too, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Could it really just be the level sensor?

Summary of the thread

A 2012 Ford Ranger owner experienced a persistent 'Washer Fluid Low' warning despite the reservoir being full, and the windshield washer system was non-functional. Possible causes discussed included a faulty level sensor, a blockage, or a malfunctioning pump. The issue was resolved by visiting a workshop, where the problem was identified and fixed, restoring the system to normal operation.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had something similar happen in my Ranger recently. Does the pump make any noise when you try to use the washers? When you say it's full, are you sure it's actually flowing into the reservoir? I had a blockage one time that made it seem full, but the system couldn't draw from it.

That's a good point, I'll check for blockages. No, I can't hear the pump at all when I try to spray. Where was the blockage in your case? Was it something simple to fix?

Yep, sounds super similar to what I experienced. Given the error memory and the fact that the pump isn't making noise, I'd hazard a guess it's either the pump itself or a sensor issue. The blockage I had was actually in one of the spray jets, but if you can't hear the pump, that wouldn't be it. Honestly, for me, it was such a headache diagnosing, I just took it to a workshop. Saved me a ton of time. Probably best to get it checked out, could save you pulling your hair out!

Thanks for the advice! Sounds like a trip to the workshop is on the cards. It turned out that the wiper water level was too low. The problem was the windshield washer system no longer works and there was an error stored in the error memory. They charged me 25€ to fix it and everything's back to normal.
