RAV4 Brake Booster Pressure Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is experiencing reduced braking power and an error message related to the brake booster pressure sensor. The issue may stem from a faulty sensor or improper bleeding of the brake system during a recent service. It is advised to have the vehicle inspected by a professional to address the sensor fault and ensure the brake system is properly bled, as this can affect other safety systems like ABS and stability control.

Yes, the braking power is definitely reduced, which is quite concerning. What exactly was the problem with your RAV4? Did the error message specify the pressure sensor, or was it more generic? Also, do you recall if they mentioned anything about bleeding the brake system during the repair?

The error message was pretty specific – something along the lines of 'brake booster pressure sensor circuit malfunction'. They did mention something about bleeding the system again to ensure there were no air bubbles. Given your hybrid setup and the fact that you're already experiencing reduced braking, I'd strongly recommend getting it checked by a professional. It's not worth risking your safety, or potentially damaging the ABS system further. A faulty sensor can also impact other vehicle safety systems like ABS and stability control.

Okay, that's very helpful. I appreciate the confirmation that others have experienced this issue. I'll take it to a trusted workshop and have them investigate the brake system and the pressure sensor specifically. They quoted me about 90€ for the repair.

Interesting... I had a similar problem with my RAV4 (not the hybrid version though). The pressure sensor can be a real pain. You're getting the reduced braking power too? That's definitely not something to ignore! A faulty brake booster sensor will trigger the error code, and yes, if the system wasn't bled properly, that can definitely cause issues. The brake booster uses vacuum (or in your case, probably electric vacuum assist) to amplify the force you apply to the brake pedal. Without proper pressure readings, the system can't function correctly.
