RAV4 check engine light and power loss

Hi, I've got a 2017 Toyota RAV4 with a gasoline engine and about 71k kilometers on it. Recently, the check engine light came on, and the engine seems to have reduced power. I'm suspecting it might be the throttle valve. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Toyota RAV4 owner experienced a check engine light and reduced engine power, suspecting the throttle valve as the cause. Another RAV4 owner with a similar issue suggested checking the accelerator pedal module, which had been the problem in their case. After visiting a workshop, it was confirmed that the throttle valve was indeed the issue, and the repair cost was approximately 265€.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I've got a RAV4 as well and had a similar issue. Check engine light, loss of power. Did you notice any change in your fuel efficiency or any weird noises from the air intake?

Thanks for the quick response! Fuel efficiency does seem a bit worse, now that you mention it. No weird noises, though. Did you figure out what the problem was with yours?

Yeah, for me it turned out to be a defective accelerator pedal module, or the electronics inside. I'd suggest getting it checked out at a workshop. Cost me around 265€ to fix.

Thanks for the info! I took it to the shop, and you were right. It was the throttle valve, and the whole repair including diagnostics was indeed around 265€. Appreciate the help!
