RAV4 fuel flap issue
Summary of the thread
The fuel flap release on a 2005 Toyota RAV4 diesel is not working, with an error stored and some functions unavailable. A potential cause is a faulty lock actuator, a common issue that can prevent the fuel door from opening. The suggested solution is to have the linkage checked and possibly replaced, as it may be defective, which was confirmed by a service center.

Thanks. Could you explain more about the lock actuator? Is it a common problem, and can it be fixed without special tools?

Yeah, the lock actuator is a little motor that pops the fuel door open. I'm no expert, but from what I read online, it's a fairly common failure. I ended up just taking mine to a workshop. They replaced the linkage because it was defective. Best to get it checked properly; could be an electrical fault too.

Thanks for the information. I took it to a local service center, and they found a defective linkage, like you said. Repair cost is estimated at 210€.

Hey, I had something similar on my RAV4. Check the lock actuator; that was the culprit for me. Is the fuel door jammed shut now?
