RAV4 Hybrid electrical malfunctions
Summary of the thread
A 2018 RAV4 Hybrid with approximately 137,000 km is experiencing random electrical issues and NAV system failures. The onboard diagnostics indicate an implausible control unit programming, suggesting a potential software bug. A similar case was resolved by recalibrating the software, which fixed the electrical malfunctions and NAV issues. Recalibration is recommended as a solution.

The electrical issues seem random, but more frequent when the car is under load, like accelerating or going uphill. Was your NAV system also failing?

Yes, I recall the NAV being down with other electrical issues. A workshop recalibrated the software and it's been fine since. The error code pointed to a software malfunction in the control unit. Seems to be a common problem.

Thanks for confirming. I suspected a software glitch. I'll book it in for recalibration. They quoted around 240€, which seems reasonable.

I own a RAV4 Hybrid. I had a similar experience. Did the electrical malfunctions seem random, or were they triggered by specific actions like using the windshield wipers or turning on the headlights?
