RAV4 Hybrid Engine Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is experiencing engine stalling at idle, reduced power, and a check engine light at 32,330 km. Diagnostics suggest a potential issue with the fuel volume regulator, possibly due to a malfunctioning high-pressure fuel pump. Similar cases have been resolved by replacing the high-pressure fuel pump and the fuel volume regulator. It is recommended to have a qualified technician inspect the high-pressure fuel system to address the problem.

Thanks for the insight. I only have the generic OBD-II code. Do you know if the cases you heard about also involved the fuel volume regulator, or just the high-pressure pump?

In the cases I'm familiar with, replacing the high-pressure fuel pump usually resolved the problem, along with the fuel volume regulator as it is often damaged as a consequence. Given your symptoms and the mileage, it's definitely worth having a qualified technician inspect the high-pressure fuel system. It is likely to be the root cause of your problem.

I appreciate the confirmation. I'll schedule an inspection at a workshop. I got an estimate of 1510€ for the repair. Thanks again.

I've seen similar issues reported on RAV4s (not sure of the year). Sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Have you checked for any codes beyond the check engine light? If the high-pressure fuel pump is going, it can definitely cause those symptoms. Rough idling, stalling, and power loss are all classic signs. A faulty fuel volume regulator could be the culprit if it's not maintaining proper fuel pressure.
