RAV4 Hybrid Fault Code Reduced Engine Power

My 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is throwing a fault code and I'm seeing reduced engine power. The car has 177007 km on it. I scanned the error memory and found the code, but I have no idea what it means! Could a faulty chip tuning be the reason?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is experiencing reduced engine power and a fault code, potentially due to a recent chip tuning modification. The issue is suspected to stem from poorly executed tuning that may have altered engine parameters unfavorably. The recommended solution is to consult a reputable workshop experienced in ECU modifications to diagnose and either correct the tuning or revert to the original settings to prevent further damage.

That sounds incredibly frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Opel Insignia, also after some third-party modifications. Same symptoms: check engine light, error stored, and the car felt like it was running on fumes. Did you recently get any work done on the engine management system? An auto scanner will not be able to tell you if you have a faulty chip. But if you know you modified the engine, this could be the culprit!

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I did get a chip tuning a while ago. It was supposed to improve performance, but now I'm regretting it. What exactly was the problem with your Opel, and how did you fix it?

Alright, if you have a fault code and reduced engine power after chip tuning, it's highly likely that the tuning is the root cause. My Opel had a poorly written software flash that messed with the engine parameters. In the end, I had to take it to a specialist who knew how to properly remap the ECU. I strongly recommend you find a reputable workshop with experience in dealing with modified ECUs. They'll be able to diagnose the issue properly and either fix the tuning or revert it back to the original settings. Don't keep driving it like that, you might damage something!

Thank you so much for your help! It sounds like I need to bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. They confirmed that the tuning was indeed the issue and the repair cost 180€. Hopefully, they can sort it out without too much trouble. I really appreciate the advice!
