RAV4 Hybrid IAT Sensor Issue

I'm having a perplexing issue with my 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. At 157541 km, the check engine light comes on and off, and there's a noticeable power reduction. The engine runs rough, and my tool shows an error code pointing to the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor circuit. Could a defective IAT sensor be the problem?

I have a RAV4 Hybrid as well. I had something similar happen not too long ago. Check engine light, felt like I was driving through molasses, the whole bit. Did you happen to notice if it was worse when the weather was particularly hot or cold?

That's interesting. The symptoms seem to happen regardless of temperature, but the reduced power seems a bit more noticeable when it's hot. What was your experience and how did you fix it?

Yep, sounds like the IAT sensor to me. Mine was doing the same thing. Sometimes it was worse than others, but it was always there. I'd suggest getting it checked out at a workshop. They can confirm it and replace the sensor. Probably cheaper than messing with it yourself unless you really know what you are doing.

Thanks for the insights. I had the IAT sensor replaced at a workshop. Replacing the sensor cost 155€, and it fixed the issues and restored the car.
