RAV4 key fob battery warning
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Toyota RAV4 owner is experiencing issues with their key fob, receiving a 'key battery low' warning, and facing inconsistent keyless access and locking functions. The problem is likely due to a depleted key fob battery. Replacing the battery is suggested as a potential solution, but it's also recommended to have the vehicle's electrical system checked by a workshop to rule out any underlying issues causing excessive battery drain.

Thanks for the quick reply! Replacing the battery myself sounds doable. Do you remember what kind of battery the key fob uses?

While replacing the battery might resolve the issue, there could be underlying electrical problems causing excessive battery drain. I recommend you have your local Toyota workshop check the electrical system. This will give you peace of mind, and it shouldn't cost much; for me it was around 37€.

Appreciate the advice! I'll swing by the workshop and have them take a look at the electrical system while they replace the battery. Cheers!

I have a RAV4 as well. The symptoms you describe align with what I experienced when the key fob battery was depleted. Have you tried replacing the battery in the key fob?
