RAV4 key fob battery warning

Hey, I've got a 2003 Toyota RAV4, electric engine, and I'm running into a snag. My key fob is giving me a 'key battery low' warning. Keyless access doesn't work anymore, and I'm getting an error stored in the memory. Unlocking and locking is also pretty hit or miss. The car has about 88k km on it. Anyone else experienced this?

I have a RAV4 as well. The symptoms you describe align with what I experienced when the key fob battery was depleted. Have you tried replacing the battery in the key fob?

Thanks for the quick reply! Replacing the battery myself sounds doable. Do you remember what kind of battery the key fob uses?

While replacing the battery might resolve the issue, there could be underlying electrical problems causing excessive battery drain. I recommend you have your local Toyota workshop check the electrical system. This will give you peace of mind, and it shouldn't cost much; for me it was around 37€.

Appreciate the advice! I'll swing by the workshop and have them take a look at the electrical system while they replace the battery. Cheers!
