RAV4 O2 Sensor Connection Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Toyota RAV4 is experiencing increased fuel consumption and a check engine light, with error codes suggesting an O2 sensor issue. The problem is suspected to be a defective connection to the oxygen sensor. The suggested solution is to check the cable and plug connection to the sensor, which is part of the exhaust system. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by a workshop, confirming a faulty connection and fixing it for a reasonable cost.

Interesting! Where exactly is that located? Is it easy to get to? I'm not super mechanically inclined, but I'm willing to take a look before bringing it in.

It's part of the exhaust system, so follow the exhaust pipe from the engine. Honestly, it might be worth just having a workshop take a look. That's what I ended up doing. Cost me about 95€.

I took your advice and brought it to a shop. You were spot on – it was a defective connection to the O2 sensor! They fixed it for 95€ as well. Huge relief and thanks for the help!

I had something similar happen on my RAV4. Check the cable and plug connection to the oxygen sensor first. That's where my problem was.
