RAV4 Oil Level Sensor Malfunction

My 2003 Toyota RAV4 (gasoline engine) is showing a persistent issue at 79635 km. The oil level sensor seems to be malfunctioning. I'm getting an error message on the speedometer and in memory, the oil warning light is illuminated, and sometimes the oil pressure warning lamp comes on as well. I've checked the wiring and the plug connection, and it seems ok, but I'm still leaning towards that being the cause. Has anyone else experienced this?

Oh man, sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my RAV4 a while back. Same warning lights and everything. Did you check the sensor itself? Maybe it's just a bad sensor, even if the wiring looks fine.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I don't have the equipment to properly test the sensor. Was it definitely the sensor in your case, or could it have been something else? I'm trying to avoid replacing parts unnecessarily.

Honestly, I'm not 100% sure. I fiddled with it for a bit, and it still acted up. I was worried I'd mess things up even more, so I just took it to a workshop and had them sort it out. It's probably the sensor, but I wouldn't want to say for sure and steer you wrong.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate the honesty. I'll probably do the same and take it to a shop. I got a quote for around 95€, so hopefully it's just a faulty connection as initially expected and nothing more major.
