RAV4 Tailgate Hall Sensor Fault

I've got a 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, with 77841 km on the clock. Recently, I've been having issues with the automatic tailgate. It doesn't always open fully, and I've pulled an error code related to the tailgate hall sensor. I'm suspecting a wiring issue, but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this.

While I commend your initial assessment, a fault within the tailgate hall sensor circuit of a 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid could stem from a multitude of factors. Prior to assuming a defective cable or plug connection, have you performed a thorough diagnostic procedure? Specifically, have you interrogated the sensor's output signal using an appropriate scan tool, and have you conducted a continuity test on the wiring harness extending to the sensor? Furthermore, could you please provide the precise diagnostic trouble code (DTC) retrieved from the vehicle's diagnostic system?

Thanks for the detailed reply. I haven't done those specific tests yet, although I do have the error memory report which states the hall sensor fault explicitly. Are you saying that the hall sensor is unlikely to be the root cause of this error?

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicating a hall sensor fault in the tailgate system of your 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid certainly warrants attention. However, it is imperative to acknowledge that the mere presence of a DTC does not invariably denote a defective sensor. Instead, the DTC serves as an indicator of a potential anomaly within the sensor's operational parameters. Considering your vehicle's symptoms and the stored error, proceeding to a reputable workshop for a comprehensive diagnosis is advisable. There, technicians possess specialized equipment and expertise to isolate the precise cause of the malfunction and implement the most efficacious repair strategy.

Okay, I appreciate the advice. I took it to a local shop as suggested. Turns out it was indeed a faulty connection at the hall sensor. The repair cost 95€ Thanks again!
