RAV4 temperature sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Toyota RAV4 owner experienced incorrect temperature readings on the instrument cluster, a persistent check engine light, and slow engine warm-up. The issue was suspected to be related to a blown fuse or a faulty temperature sensor. After checking the cooling grille for obstructions and consulting a workshop, the problem was identified as a defective fuse for the cooling grille, which was replaced to resolve the issue.

A fuse, huh? Interesting. Where would I find the fuse for the cooling grille, and how would I even check if it's defective? Also, how would I know if the sensor is bad?

Honestly, I'm not 100% sure which specific fuse it is on the RAV4 - you'd have to check your manual or a wiring diagram. As for the sensor, that's tricky to diagnose without the proper tools. Might be best to take it to a workshop to avoid damaging anything.

Okay, thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on - it was just a defective fuse for the cooling grille, costing me 52€ to replace! Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar! I've got a RAV4 too, and I had similar symptoms a while back. Check if you perhaps blew a fuse which is responsible for heating. Is the grille actually restricted, or could it be something with the sensor?
