RC Engine Misfire

My 2015 Lexus RC with a gasoline engine is acting like it wants to die. I'm getting rough engine running, stalls at idle, the check engine light is on, and it's jerking like crazy when accelerating. I'm betting it's a coil pack issue. Anyone seen this before? I've checked the connections and they seem okay. Any ideas before I start throwing parts at it?

Sounds like a classic ignition coil failure. Has the check engine light given you any specific codes? That could really help narrow it down.

Yeah, it's throwing a code pointing to a misfire on one of the cylinders, which made me think it could be the cable or plug connection being defective. Does that sound right, or is there something else I should be checking?

A misfire code definitely strengthens the case for a bad coil. Given the symptoms and the code, plus you checking the connections, a failing ignition coil is the prime suspect. At this point, a workshop visit would be the best solution.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on – it was a defective ignition coil. Replaced it for 95€ and she's running like a dream again.
