RC Engine Misfires

Having issues with my 2016 Lexus RC gasoline engine, about 197,600 km on it. Engine's running rough, check engine light keeps popping on. When accelerating, it feels like the car is jerking with reduced engine power. Getting combustion misfire codes. Replaced the spark plugs, but that didn't fix it. Could it be the ignition coils?

Summary of the thread

A 2016 Lexus RC with approximately 197,600 km is experiencing rough engine performance, a check engine light, and jerking during acceleration, with combustion misfire codes present. Replacing the spark plugs did not resolve the issue, leading to speculation that the ignition coils might be the cause. However, another owner with similar symptoms found that defective fuel injectors were the problem, suggesting that a professional diagnosis might be necessary to confirm the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I have a Lexus RC too, and I had similar symptoms not too long ago. Rough running, check engine light, and the jerking under acceleration sound very familiar. Spark plugs didn't solve it for me either. Did you notice any difference in the throttle response after changing the plugs? Are the misfires on all cylinders or just one?

Thanks for the quick reply! Honestly, I didn't notice any difference in the throttle response after replacing the spark plugs. The misfire seems to be happening on multiple cylinders, not just one. Does that point to anything specific?

Okay, multiple cylinder misfires after replacing the plugs... Yeah, sounds like what I experienced. For me it turned out to be defective fuel injector(s). Since it's multiple cylinders, it might be worth getting them checked out. I ended up taking mine to a mechanic and they confirmed it. The repair was about 515€. Probably best to let a professional diagnose it properly.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I really appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll take it to a workshop to get the injectors checked out. Hopefully that's the issue, and it's not something more serious. I'll post what happens!
