RC Engine Overheating
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a 2019 Lexus RC with a hybrid engine experiencing overheating and a check engine light. The initial suspicion was a defective radiator fan, which could be caused by a faulty speed sensor. After professional inspection, it was confirmed that the speed sensor was indeed the issue, leading to the radiator fan's failure. The sensor was replaced, resolving the overheating problem.

I haven't noticed any unusual noises, but I'm not sure about the speed sensor. Is there a way to check the sensor without special equipment?

Unfortunately, the speed sensor is tricky to test without proper tools. Given the overheating and check engine light, it's probably best to get it checked by a professional. If it is the speed sensor, I would expect a bill around 250€.

Thank you for the advice. I had the car checked, and it was indeed the speed sensor causing the radiator fan to fail. It was replaced for 250€, and the issue is resolved.

Overheating and a check engine light definitely sound like a radiator fan issue could be the culprit. Have you checked if the fan is spinning freely or making any strange noises? A faulty speed sensor could also be at fault. Is the fan blade obstructed somehow?
