RC Hybrid Stalling and Check Engine Light
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Lexus RC hybrid is experiencing stalling at idle, a check engine light, and a loss of power, with diagnostic codes indicating a faulty rail pressure sensor signal. A defective pressure sensor could indeed cause these issues. It is suggested to replace the fuel rail pressure sensor, as similar symptoms were resolved by doing so in another RC. Consulting a trusted mechanic for the replacement is recommended to restore the vehicle's performance.

Thank you for your reply. You mentioned a fuel pressure issue. Could you elaborate on what specifically I should be looking for? Did your RC exhibit the same symptoms before you addressed the sensor, or was there something else that led you to suspect the fuel pressure?

I had those exact symptoms. Considering the diagnostic code you received, and the issues I faced, replacing the pressure sensor will fix the issue. Given your expertise level, you may wish to consult a trusted workshop. I ended up doing that, and it sorted out the problem quickly. I paid around 240€, including the sensor and labour.

Thank you so much for the confirmation and advice! I'll take it to my local mechanic and have them replace the fuel rail pressure sensor. Hopefully, that will resolve the issue and get my RC back to its former glory. I appreciate you sharing your experience – it's incredibly helpful to know I'm not alone in this! I will get the repair done and the car will be running well again.

I understand your frustration. While I don't have the hybrid, I own an RC, and I recall similar symptoms a while back. The check engine light was particularly irritating. Stalling and reduced power were also present. Have you considered a fuel pressure issue? It might be worthwhile investigating that before focusing solely on the sensor.
