RC rough running fuel pressure sensor

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my 2017 Lexus RC with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and the engine is running rough. It stalls at idle sometimes and there's some jerking when accelerating. I've scanned the codes and it points to a defective fuel pressure sensor. With 225508 km on the clock I'm wondering what might be the next step. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Lexus RC with a gasoline engine is experiencing rough running, stalling at idle, and jerking during acceleration, with a check engine light indicating a defective fuel pressure sensor. Possible causes include a faulty sensor, corroded or damaged wiring harness, or loose connections. Suggested solutions involve checking and cleaning the wiring harness and connector, inspecting the fuel pump relay and fuel filter, and replacing the sensor if necessary. The issue was resolved by cleaning a corroded connector and replacing the sensor, restoring smooth engine performance.

Possible defective fuel pressure sensor, likely a cable or plug connection issue. Check the wiring harness and connector for corrosion or damage. It might be a loose connection. Have you checked the fuel pump relay and fuel filter as well?

Thanks for the quick reply. Where exactly is the fuel pressure sensor located on the RC? And would a faulty sensor also impact fuel economy? I have noticed that it is a little worse than normal.

The fuel pressure sensor is usually on the fuel rail. A faulty sensor can absolutely affect fuel economy, as the ECU relies on its readings to regulate fuel delivery. Given the symptoms, I'd say it's best to have a workshop confirm the connection. Then replace the sensor.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. It turned out to be a corroded connector as you suspected. A quick clean and new connector, plus a new sensor for good measure, and it's running smoothly again. Total cost was 95€.
