Interesting. Was it a straightforward fix, or did it take them a while to diagnose the airflow control problem? Was the air intake the main issue?

Well, they initially suspected a misfire, but the diagnostics pointed towards the air intake pretty quickly. To be honest, I'd recommend getting it checked out at a workshop. Could be a defective switch intake manifold control like you suspect. Better safe than sorry.

Cheers for the advice. Turns out it was the intake manifold flap control, just like I thought. Cost 465€ to sort out. Running smoothly again now!

That sounds familiar. I had almost the same symptoms with my old Alfa Romeo Giulietta. The engine light was on as well, and the dealer found out that the airflow control was defective. It caused all sorts of weird issues with the air intake.
