RCZ Engine Start Problem

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2015 Peugeot RCZ diesel. It's only done 36084 km. The engine won't start, or sometimes it starts briefly and then cuts out. There's an error stored in the memory, I think it's anti-theft related. Any ideas?

Sounds like an immobilizer problem. I had similar with my old Renault Megane. Same symptoms – engine not starting, or cutting out right away. The error memory kept showing immobilizer issues. Have you tried the spare key? It could be a key signal problem. On my Megane it was a faulty transponder in the key. Does the error message refer to the anti-theft system or the key?

I only have the one key unfortunately. The error code seems to point towards incorrect key programming. Is that similar to your problem?

Yes, incorrect key programming sounds similar. I tried a few tricks like disconnecting the battery, but nothing worked. I'd suggest visiting a workshop to get the key re-programmed. They can check the immobilizer system too. It is likely a security feature of your car's anti-theft system acting up.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the shop and they reprogrammed the key. Cost me 45€, but it fixed the problem! I was pulling my hair out trying to figure this out.
