RCZ Exhaust Smoke Warning Light

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2011 Peugeot RCZ (gasoline engine). It has about 66,250 kilometers. The warning light came on, and I'm seeing smoke from the exhaust when I accelerate. It might be the exhaust back pressure sensor. Any ideas?

I own an RCZ too, and this sounds familiar. I had a similar issue a while back – warning light and smoke. It turned out to be related to the exhaust back pressure system. Have you checked the sensor itself for any physical damage or loose connections?

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked the sensor and wiring, but I don't see anything obvious. Can you tell me more about what happened with yours? Were the symptoms exactly the same?

Yeah, the symptoms were really close to what you're describing. The warning light was on and off at first, then stayed on, with smoke when I accelerated. Since you don't have much experience, I'd suggest taking it to a good workshop for a proper check. The sensor probably needs replacing, which isn't too expensive, but finding the exact cause needs the right tools.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a Peugeot workshop, and they said the exhaust back pressure sensor was faulty. The repair cost 245€, including the new sensor and labor. It's all fixed now. Thanks again for the help.
