RCZ Gasoline engine issues

My 2012 Peugeot RCZ Gasoline is giving me headaches. Check engine light is on, power is way down, and the engine feels like it's choking. It even stalled while idling! My fuel consumption is crazy high now. I can also hear a distinct whistling, like a tea kettle, and a loud hissing when I accelerate. Checked online and I'm thinking it could be something with the boost pressure system. Any ideas?

Sounds frustrating! I had something similar with my RCZ. Check your wastegate valve, that might be the culprit. Is your engine response also super slow, like turbo lag is on steroids?

Yeah, the turbo lag is awful! Feels like it takes forever to get going. Where exactly is the wastegate valve, and is there anything I can check myself before taking it to a shop?

It's part of the turbocharger, tough to get to without proper tools. Honestly, based on the hissing and whistling, and now the turbo lag you're describing, it really does sound like a wastegate issue. Best bet is to get it checked by a professional. Could be a defect, or a pressure sensor problem – either way, they'll diagnose it properly.

Thanks a ton for the pointers! Took it to the shop, and you nailed it – wastegate valve was faulty. Cost me around 860€ to get it fixed, but at least she's purring again! Really appreciate the help!
